Dallas Morning News

The North Texas Housing Coalition's Housing Summit on Jan. 24 will focus on the impact of the housing crisis and why there is no formal regional housing strategy for North Texas.

The theme for this year's conference is "Shhh!! Housing Crisis -- The Burden Our Children Will Inherit."
The session, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and includes lunch, will be held at the Marriott Las Colinas Hotel.
Organizers say that this information-sharing and business education forum has been designed to engage local, state and national leaders in a conversation about affordable housing issues in North Texas.
Topics for the meeting include the realities of the housing crisis and understanding regional planning dynamics as well as panel discussions about best practices in affordable housing.
The nonprofit North Texas Housing Coalition works to meet the challenges of affordable housing in North Texas, with a special emphasis on people who are first-time homebuyers.
It also helps educate the public and private sectors on how housing can affect issues such as health care, transportation, education and crime.
The summit is presented in a partnership with the J. McDonald Williams Institute.
Fannie Mae is the presenting sponsor at the $25,000 level.
Other sponsors include:
--$10,000: Washington Mutual, CitiGroup/CitiBank, J.P. Morgan Chase and Bank of America.
--$7,500: Freddie Mac and Homecoming Financial.
The summit costs $125 if you register through Saturday and $150 after that. For a registration form, call 214-946-3500 or visit www.nthcinc.org.

Bohlin Cywinski Jackson has received more than 350 design awards since it was created in 1965 and was named the American Institute of Architects' Firm of the Year in 1994. Mr. Bohlin has also been included in the Architectural Digest 100.
